Tikhonov Andrey
Service creator, orthodontist since 2003, PhD, orthodontic speaker since 2006
In developing this service, I relied on 20 years of clinical orthodontic experience and scientific research
Orthoplanner addresses far more clinical tasks than individual consulting orthodontists, delivering structured treatment plans in a convenient format along with patient-ready documentation. It doesn’t get tired, follows a structured checklist, is available 24/7 in any time zone, and in many cases provides more consistent guidance than a personal consultation

Most common questions and answers
Why does a clinic and its owners need this service?
In most clinics, orthodontics is poorly organized. There are no structured treatment plans, and patients are barely informed about their care. When a doctor leaves — due to maternity leave or relocation — it often leads to complete disruption, as there is no clarity on the planned treatment or what was communicated to the patient. Working through the service requires the clinician to perform comprehensive diagnostics, develop a clear treatment plan, and fully inform the patient about all key aspects. As a result, treatment quality improves, the risk of conflicts decreases, and continuity of care during doctor transitions becomes much easier
Who is this service for?
The service is beneficial for clinicians who understand that orthodontics is complex and carry a high level of responsibility for patient outcomes. It is especially valuable for orthodontists with up to 10 years of experience, as well as general dentists transitioning into orthodontic treatment who want to avoid compromising their reputation. It is also useful for experienced clinicians who feel they’ve plateaued and want to elevate their clinical results. It is particularly relevant for experienced clinicians working in team-based practices with assistants. The service helps maintain control over treatment plans while reducing the supervising doctor’s time involvement and improving outcome quality. Optimized for practice scaling
Why can’t the service be used without training?
We tested the service with clinicians who had no prior training. If you don’t understand the planning algorithm built into it, you won’t trust the results. Most clinicians don’t have a clear, universal treatment planning algorithm defined in millimeters. Without at least some training, using the service effectively is крайне difficult. During the course, you won’t just learn how to use the service — you’ll gain a fundamental understanding of a universal treatment planning algorithm that can be applied even without the tool in everyday clinical practice. Try it — you won’t regret it
What training is required to get access?
There are two options: 1) an in-person course “solving key challenges in orthodontics,” which includes the treatment planning algorithm used in the service. 2) the online orthodontic treatment planning school by A.V. Tikhonov
What algorithm is built into the service?
In short, the algorithm calculates tooth movement across all four segments to position the upper anterior teeth at the optimal inclination defined by the clinician, align the maxillary midline with the facial midline, resolve crowding considering expansion and IPR, and achieve Class I canine relationship. All of this is done taking into account missing teeth, asymmetries, possible compromises, orthognathic surgery options, and dentoalveolar compensation
What concept is the planning service based on?
The service is based on a proprietary algorithm currently undergoing patenting. The algorithm follows a traditional, evidence-based orthodontic approach. If you adhere to alternative or experimental concepts, the logic behind the algorithm may not fully align with your views. In any case, you’re welcome to join our training regardless of your clinical philosophy, where through open and professional discussion (during the in-person course) we can review different perspectives and work toward a common understanding
Why should I trust this service?
If you’re a responsible clinician, you actually shouldn’t trust it blindly. In short, all calculations and algorithms are based on research data — both external and proprietary — more than 20 years of clinical experience from the creator, and clear, transparent logic. But you shouldn’t take it at face value, which is why we recommend completing the training if you’re not familiar with the project and its author. You can also get feedback from colleagues who have trained with Andrey Tikhonov, and if their experience aligns with your expectations, you can consider working with us
